Ceiling pendants

Anaesthesia and surgical ceiling pendants and technical columns.

What is a ceiling pendant?

Ceiling pendants carry medical gases, electrical power and equipment above the surgical field. They clear the floor of cables and hoses, which simplifies movement around the room and cleaning between two procedures.

Where is it used?

A ceiling pendant requires a load study, drilling of the slab and connection to the medical gases: it is installed along with the room, not in a room in service. Its configuration is decided on the room plan, according to the position of the surgeon, the anaesthesiologist and the table. An anaesthesia pendant and a surgical pendant do not carry the same equipment or the same gases. Coordination with the company responsible for medical gases and with the design office must begin at the design stage.

What to check before choosing?

  • Permissible load and number of consoles carried
  • Range of rotation and reach of the arms, to be validated against the room plan
  • Number of medical gas outlets and power supplies
  • Anaesthesia or surgical configuration, which do not require the same equipment
